Leads per industry
All industries →Ready-made selections of Mattilsynet’s requirements for what you supply – all of Norway, 2025–2026.
- Temperature and refrigeration The cold chain (requirement 3.7) is about keeping food cold enough, and is one of the requirements Mattilsynet checks at its smiley (smilefjes) inspections.
- Allergen labelling Restaurants must give correct information about allergens in their food (requirement 4.2).
- Cleaning and hygiene Findings on cleaning (2.3) and hand washing (2.6) mean that premises, equipment or routines do not meet the standard the regulations require.
- Pest control Requirement 2.5 of the smiley inspection covers measures against pests – both prevention and control.
- Internal control and HACCP Internal control (1.4) and hazard analysis (1.5) are the foundation of safe food.
- Premises and maintenance Requirements 2.1 and 2.2 cover the layout, standard and maintenance of premises and equipment.
Questions and answers
- What is the smiley scheme (smilefjes) – and what do strekmunn and sur munn mean?
- The smiley scheme (smilefjes) is the inspection scheme of Mattilsynet, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, for restaurants. The result is shown as a face: a smiling face (grades 0–1) means no breaches that need follow-up, a neutral face (strekmunn, grade 2) means breaches that need follow-up, and a sad face (sur munn, grade 3) means serious breaches. The face hangs at the entrance and is published on Mattilsynet’s smiley site. Read the guide: Smiley, neutral face and sad face – what do the grades mean?
- How do I find restaurants with breaches (violations) at Mattilsynet?
- Mattilsynet publishes every inspection one by one on its smiley site. Restoradar collects the same open data into one list of restaurants with breaches (violations), which you filter by county, municipality, industry and severity. In the last 12 months, 477 restaurants had breaches (violations) at the smiley (smilefjes) inspections of Mattilsynet, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority – 43 of them serious (Mattilsynet, data as of 7 Oct 2026). - What do grades 2 and 3 mean?
- Grade 2 is a breach of the regulations that requires follow-up; grade 3 is a serious breach. Both are published by Mattilsynet, and they are what Restoradar shows publicly. Grade 1 is a minor remark that Mattilsynet does not publish on its smiley site – registered users see it, always marked “Minor remark – not published by Mattilsynet”. Read the guide: Smiley, neutral face and sad face – what do the grades mean?
- What does Restoradar show – and what does it not show?
- Publicly: municipality, requirement, grade, date and the current smiley face – without the restaurant’s name. Registered companies see the name, address, a link to the inspection report and every inspection back to 2016. Restoradar never shows phone numbers, e-mail addresses or the names of people, and makes no “worst restaurants” ranking.
- How often is the data updated?
- Every morning. Restoradar fetches Mattilsynet’s open inspection data (licence CC BY 4.0) and the business register (Enhetsregisteret) every morning; the numbers on this page are as of 7 Oct 2026. Restoradar is not affiliated with Mattilsynet.
- Who is Restoradar for?
- Suppliers to the restaurant industry: temperature monitoring, refrigeration service, cleaning, pest control, internal control/HACCP, allergen labelling and commercial kitchen equipment. The list shows where your product is needed right now. Restoradar is a B2B tool, not a consumer guide.
- Is it free?
- Yes, Restoradar is free during the beta. A company with a Norwegian organisation number creates an account and gets names, Excel export, minor remarks that Mattilsynet does not publish, and every inspection back to 2016.
